The Adult Outpatient Program begins with an appointment for a
confidential assessment by an alcohol and drug counselor. This
first session will take about one hour. At its conclusion, the
counselor will schedule a second session in order to discuss the
findings and make recommendations for treatment. The usual form of
treatment is the Intensive Outpatient Program, which includes group
therapy sessions of three-hour duration, three days per week for
seven weeks. This includes a family week during which the spouse,
the children or significant other may participate.
The adult sessions are scheduled from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on
Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday or 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on
Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. After completion of IOP, a program
of once weekly aftercare sessions are recommended for 16 weeks.
The IOP groups include five to ten adults facilitated by a counselor
experienced in adult treatment.
