The Adolescent Outpatient Treatment Program begins with an appointment
for a confidential assessment. The appointment can be made by calling
(920)498-8600 . When the two hour assessment is scheduled, one or both parents
should plan to attend because there will be separate interviews with the
adolescent and the parents. Also there will be a urine drug screen with
the adolescent in order to verify information provided about drug use.
At the end of the assessment, another session will be scheduled in order
to review information gathered by the counselor and to discuss the
recommendation for treatment. If treatment is recommended, most likely the
adolescent will be scheduled for the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP).
This includes two-hour sessions on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday each
week from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. In addition there is a family session
from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday nights each week, scheduled for family participation.
The adolescent IOP usually continues for 4 to 6 weeks. After completion
of the six-week program, the counselor will probably recommend an
aftercare program usually once per week for 16 weeks. There is also a
monthly family aftercare session.
Adolescent IOP sessions usually includes five to ten adolescents and
are led by an experienced alcohol and drug counselor.
