History

The programs offered by L. E. Phillips-Libertas Center trace their origins to the accomplishments of the Hospital Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis, pioneers in the treatment of alcoholism since the 1940s. Opened in 1977, the Libertas Center programs are services of St. Joseph's Hospital. This beneficial connection makes possible the supportive coordination of patient care and treatment of the physical, emotional and special aspects of the disease.

The L. E. Phillips-Libertas Inpatient Program provides 44 beds in a comfortable, homelike atmosphere in which to recover. This environment assists with treatment and recovery by enhancing the individual's sense of wellness, dignity and self-respect.

The L. E. Phillips-Libertas Center offers a continuum of quality programs to meet the specific needs of each individual and family. Treatment programs use a multidisciplinary team consisting of counselors, physicians, psychiatrists, nurses, psychologists, social workers and pastoral care professionals.

The L. E. Phillips-Libertas Center is accredited by the joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations and is certified by the State of Wisconsin for treatment of alcoholism and drug abuse. Our outpatient programs are certified for alcohol/drug abuse and mental health issues.
