Adult Inpatient Program
The Adult Inpatient Program provides in-depth
care for those patients requiring medical inpatient treatment. The length of stay
is determined on an individual basis. Each patient is assigned to a
multi-disciplinary team which includes the primary care physician, a
primary care nurse, and a chemical dependency counselor. Other team members
include chemical dependency unit aides, associate counselors, certified nursing
assistants and pastoral care counselors. In a addition, psychologists, social workers and other medical professionals will be used as needed. The twelve-step model is often
implemented. However, individual treatment allows for implementation of other
therapeutic interventions.
L. E. Phillips-Libertas Center staff and the patient work together to develop an
individual treatment plan, which the patient implements by participating in
group therapy, individual counseling, lectures and assigned readings, all of which
assist in analyzing the role alcohol and drugs have played in his or her life.
The plan also helps to identify feelings and areas of personal inadequacy and
develop coping skills. Treatment helps patients develop and/or re-establish
relationships with peers and significant others.
Family involvement is encouraged in order to fulfill goals set in the patient's
treatment plan. Evening and weekend programming are also beneficial to the program
as they offer more opportunity for successful treatment within a condensed time span.
During the final phase of inpatient treatment, the patient actively prepares for
aftercare. Staff and patients develop aftercare and other follow-up plans, including
any necessary referrals to other service providers. When appropriate, the patient
may attend our outpatient aftercare programs to receive ongoing support during the
recovery process.
Adult Outpatient Program
Not all treatment plans for alcoholism or drug abuse require
inpatient stays. Some treatment plans are more effective when the
individual is able to remain at home and/or continue working while at
the same time continuing a strong therapeutic program.
The Outpatient Program offers prompt identification, assessment,
diagnosis and treatment of people who have problems related to the
disease of alcoholism and drug addiction with the benefit of remaining
at home and active in community living. Outpatient treatment permits the
patient to fulfill an essential element of the recovery process by
assuming responsibility for his or her own recovery and the necessary
community activities it requires.
Participants in our Outpatient Programs receive the help they
need to recover and rebuild their lives through individual evaluation,
education sessions, group therapy, social interaction and family
participation. Treatment is based on the philosophy of the medical
model of addiction and integrates the Twelve Steps and Traditions.
Alcoholism and drug addiction are viewed as highly treatable diseases.
Because every person is unique with individual problems and needs, our
Outpatient Programs recognize the differences between each person's
needs and responds to them appropriately by individualizing treatment.
Planning for treatment takes into account the physical, social,
educational, vocational, family, psychological and spiritual needs
of each patient. An integral part of the individual's treatment
plan takes into account the environment in which the person lives
and assists him or her in developing an aftercare recovery program that
can meet the challenges of that environment. The patient's progress is
monitored in relation to the objectives of his or her individual
treatment plan and revised and updated as appropriate.
